In Civic Theatre's production of Disney's High School Musical, the students at East High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, have many teachers who are passionate about their craft, although none moreso, perhaps, than Ms. Darbus, the theatre teacher.
M. Fernandez, who plays the role, said, "She has a passion for the theater and takes her job seriously, although she can be flamboyant at times. Over time, she realizes that anyone from any of the cliques in the school can be talented in different things."
When asked if that reflects one of the themes of the show, that no one is one-dimensional, M. agreed wholeheartedly.
M. concluded by explaining what the audience will see when they watch the Civic Theatre production of Disney's High School Musical.
"They will see more than 40 of the most talented actors and actresses, most of whom are teenagers or in their early 20s, in Lafayette, West Lafayette and the surrounding area. These actors and dancers are excellent," M said.
Disney's High School Musical will be performed July 11-12, 18-19, 2008 at the Tippecanoe County Amphitheater, located on State Road 43 North.
