In The Wings: Disney's High School Musical. Meet Sharpay Evans.

President of the Drama Club. Boss over brother Ryan. Admirer of Troy Bolton, basketball captain. And the "star" of East High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She's Sharpay Evans, and you're not.

Sharpay is played by Lisa Stanforth in Civic Theatre's production of Disney's High School Musical.

"Sharpay is the drama queen — literally and figuratively — at the school. She definitely rules the Drama Club, but she thinks she rules the school too. She has her sights set on what she wants, and she'll stop at nothing to get them. She wants the lead in the upcoming school musical, Juliet and Romeo, which she always gets, and Troy Bolton. And she's having trouble with both because of the new girl in school, Gabriella Montez," Lisa said.

Lisa finished by explaining why she decided to audition for the show.

"I really enjoy singing and dancing, but I hadn't had the chance to do either for about a year. I also really like High School Musical; I thought it was a fun movie when I saw it. That motived me to audition," she said.

Disney's High School Musical will be performed July 11-12, 18-19, 2008 at the Tippecanoe County Amphitheater, located on State Road 43 North. For more information about the show, ticket availability and performance times, call the Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette office at 765-423-PLAY (7529) or visit www.lafcivic.org.
