Brent "Panda" Stedman directs Rudyard Kipling's The Just So Stories, the first production of the 2008-2009 Civic Youth Theatre season. He previously directed the Civic Youth Theatre production of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in October 2007.
Panda wanted to direct the production because he said the script has a lot of potential. He also said he has enjoyed the challenge of bringing it to the stage. He has cast several actors and actresses who had not previously performed in Civic Youth Theatre productions and has encouraged them to personalize their roles.
"The actors have inserted a few of their real-life quirks in their performances. They are going to do very well in front of an audience," Panda said. "The characters will be adorable, but the actors will be able to portray the powerful emotions in the script."
Rudyard Kipling's The Just So Stories opens Friday, October 10, and runs through Sunday, October 12, at the historic Monon Depot Theatre in downtown Lafayette. The Friday and Saturday evening performances begin at 7 p.m.; the Saturday and Sunday afternoon performances begin at 2:30 p.m. Tickets went on sale August 1. Tickets for adults are $10, $5 for youth. To learn more about the production or ticket availability, call 765-423-PLAY (7529) or visit Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette's Web site.
