Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette's committees, Part I.

Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette has several long-standing committees comprised of staff members, the Board of Directors and volunteers from the area that keep the organization running smoothly. Here are a few that may be of interest to volunteers looking to participate in Civic Theatre other than on productions.

Bylaws: The Bylaws Committee is new for the 2008-2009 season. The Chairperson is appointed by the President of the Board of Directors. The Managing Director is the theatre's staff representative on the committee.

The committee is responsible for reviewing Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette's bylaws and suggesting any revisions as necessary.

Civic Youth Theatre Advisory: The Chairperson of the CYT Advisory Committee is appointed by the 1st Vice President of the Board of Directors. The Civic Youth Director is the theatre's staff representative on the committee.

The committee reads and recommends plays, including the holiday play when appropriate, that will be produced during the next regular Civic Youth Theatre season. The committee also recommends scripts to the Managing Director and Civic Youth Director when the Young Playwrights Project is part of the season.

Facilities: The Chairperson of the Facilities Committee is appointed by the Treasurer of the Board of Directors. The Managing Director is the theatre staff's representative on the committee.

The committee recommends the annual expense budget to the Managing Director for approval by the Finance Committee for the next fiscal year; plans and executes routine maintenance of the buildings and grounds; facilitates emergency repairs; makes an annual inspection of the real property, develops the long-range capital and maintenance plans, and reports the finding to the Board annually; keeps equipment in safe working condition; and recommends to the Technical Director the purchase of new equipment or the replacement of existing equipment for approval by the Finance Committee.

Volunteers are welcome to inquire about serving on the committees. To learn more information about the committees or to inquire about becoming members of these committees, please call 765-423-PLAY (7529).
