Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette's committees, Part II.

Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette has several long-standing committees comprised of staff members, the Board of Directors and volunteers from the area that keep the organization running smoothly. Here are a few that may be of interest to volunteers looking to participate in Civic Theatre other than on productions.

Finance: The Chairperson of the Finance Committee is the Treasurer of the Board of Directors. The Managing Director is the theatre staff's representative on the committee.

The committee reviews the annual budget for the next fiscal year to be presented to the Board of Directors for approval prior to the end of the current fiscal year; reviews monthly financial statements for presentation to the Board of Directors at board meetings; participates in the annual audit process through interaction with auditors, review of the annual report of the auditor, and present recommendations to the Board of Directors; and works in conjunction with committees to coordinate fiscal needs with fund development.

Fund Development: The Chairperson of the Fund Development Committee is appointed by the 2nd Vice President of the Board of Directors. The Managing Director is the staff's represnetative on the committee.

The committee develops sources of non-programmatic revenue. The committee's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: membership, development of Business and Professional Partners Program, fundraising and membership development. The committee also submits major fundraising activities for the Board of Directors' approval.

House & Social: The Chairperson of the House & Social Committee is appointed by the 2nd Vice President of the Board of Directors.

The committee is responsible for the opening and the preparation of the house before each performance and the closing and securing of the facility after each performance of regular season productions, including previews, and special productions. It is also responsible for the safety and comfort of patrons attending these events.

The committee provides a complete staff for each performance; provides the supplies necessary for the soft drink concession and serves drinks during intermission; trains volunteers recruited to be house managers, ushers, and box office workers; and provides volunteer names to the Managing Director in a timely fashion.

The committee is also responsible for the social functions sponsored by Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. It promotes and provides social activities; provides refreshments for the opening night receptions of Mainstage Productions; plans, prepares, and oversees the strike parties; and plans and provides refreshments and entertainment for the Annual Meeting.

Volunteers who want to learn more about these committees or to inquire about becoming members of these committees should call 765-423-PLAY (7529).
