Announcing auditions: Our Town

Audition dates have been announced for Our Town by Thornton Wilder, the first production in Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette's 2009-2010 Civic Youth Theatre season. They will take place Sunday, August 23 and Monday, August 24 from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Shook Room of the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette. The museum is located at 101 South 9th St. in downtown Lafayette.

Director Larry Sommers seeks at least 17 boys and 7 girls for the production. Those auditioning should be prepared to read from the script.

First produced in 1938, this Pulitzer Prize-winning drama of life in the small village of Grover's Corners is one of the most frequently produced plays today. Using a heightened theatricality to strip away the "artifice of theatre," Thornton Wilder presents the lives and deaths of the inhabitants of a small New England town at the turn of the century.

Our Town will open Friday, October 2 and run through Sunday, October 4.
