Fall 2009 Classes from Civic Youth Theatre: Molding the Older Actor
Civic Youth Theatre Director Melanie R. Buchanan will be teaching three classes in fall 2009: Playground to the Theatre, Intro to Musical Theatre and Molding the Older Actor.
Molding the Older Actor is for students in Grade 7 and above. Classes begin September 24 and run eight weeks through November 12, with classes from 4:30-5:45 p.m. every Thursday.
Students will learn techniques for becoming a great actor. Students will start with the audition process, preparing monologues and practicing cold readings. The focus then will shift to script analysis and developing ways to break down scripts for things such as operative words, mood and theme.
The cost of this class is $80 for a Civic Friend, $85 for a Non-Member. Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette has a limited number of scholarships available.
