In the Wings: Snow White. Meet Catalina Cruz.

Catalina Cruz plays the Old Woman in Snow White, the third production of the 2009-2010 Civic Youth Theatre season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. The script is by J. Michael Straczynski.

Catalina is making her Civic Theatre debut with this production. She explained why she auditioned for the show.

"The show sounded fun and I want to be an actress on Broadway someday," she said.

Catalina explained that the Old Woman is one of the Queen's alter egos.

"The Old Woman wants to kill Snow White," she said. "She tries to hypnotize Snow White using a diamond."

Catalina said the audience will enjoy how funny the show is.

"The characters are goofier than in the Walt Disney movie," she said. "The play is more comic than serious."

Snow White runs from Friday, February 26 to Sunday, February 28 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre in downtown Lafayette. Shows on Friday and Saturday evenings begin at 7:00 p.m., and the show on Sunday afternoon begins at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for youth age 18 and under.
