May 15: A Career on the Stage, with special guest Ward Billeisen
On Saturday, May 15, Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette welcomes veteran Broadway actor Ward Billeisen to speak at a class titled "A Career on the Stage." It will be held 12 noon to 2 p.m. in the historic Monon Depot Theatre in downtown Lafayette.
Ward Billeisen has been performing extensively in New York City on Broadway and all over the United States for over a decade, performing on stage with David Hyde Pierce, Bernadette Peters, Elaine Stritch, Audra McDonald, Patti LuPone, Ana Gasteyer, Mandy Patinkin, Harvey Fierstein, Gary Beach and Victoria Clark to name just a few. His talents and experience cover a wide spectrum, from performing on TV at The Kennedy Center Honors (CBS), honoring Andrew Lloyd Webber, to choreographing and assistant directing benefit concerts to raise money for a multitude of charities, national tours and regional productions all over the East Coast.
Ward appeared in the Broadway companies of the beloved Fiddler on the Roof (Fyedka) in 2004 and most recently Curtains (Brick Hawvermale), starring David Hyde Pierce and Debra Monk, in 2007. Having toured the US in three national tours of Hello, Dolly!, Chicago and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, he has performed in 49 of the 50 states and in Canada. He just filmed Stephen Sondheim's 80th Birthday Gala for PBS that airs in November of this year. Favorite experiences on stage include singing in concert with the Three Irish Tenors and playing the roles of Tony in West Side Story and Rolf in Sound of Music.
