In the Wings: Annie Jr. Meet Lilly Parker.

Lilly Parker plays Lily St. Regis in Annie Jr., the production mounted during an intensive four-week summer camp led by Civic Youth Theatre Director Melanie R. Buchanan.

Lilly has been interested in acting since performing in a play with her fourth grade class. When she was in fifth grade, she took at class at Civic Theatre.

"Last summer, my mom said, 'You want to be in Guys and Dolls, right?'" Lilly said. "She told me about last year's summer camp and I enjoyed it. So I wanted to sign up for this year's camp too."

Lilly said that Lily is dumb, spends too much time around Rooster and likes attention.

"During the choreography for 'Easy Street,' Lily always is pushing her way past Rooster and Miss Hannigan so she can get more attention," Lilly said.

Lilly said the most fun part about the Annie Jr. camp is rehearsing the acting, although she really likes the singing and dancing too.

"The audience will remember Annie Jr. because it's a good show," she said.

Annie Jr. opens Friday, July 23 and runs through Sunday, July 25 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre at the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette. There will be two performances on Saturday, July 24. Friday and Saturday evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday afternoon performances begin at 2:30 p.m.

For more information about the show or to order tickets, call Civic Theatre's office at 765-423-7529 or visit Civic Theatre's website.

It's a great thing to know that a kid like Lilly Parker plays Lily St. Regis in Annie Jr., the production mounted during an intensive four-week summer camp led by Civic Youth Theatre Director Melanie R. Buchanan.

I am proud of you!
