Fall 2010 Acting Classes from Civic Youth Theatre: Aesop Theatre
Civic Youth Theatre Director Melanie R. Buchanan will be teaching three classes in Fall 2010: Aesop Theatre, Intro to Musical Theatre, and Script Analysis and Characterization.
Aesop Theatre is for students in Grades 1, 2 and 3. The class begins September 21 and runs through November 9, with classes from 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. each Tuesday. Classes will be held at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette at the corner of 5th Street and North Street.
Students will create characters from Aesop's fables and put them on stage using movement and music. They will learn basic acting techniques and characterization, using skits and games. After the last class, there will be a small showcase for family and friends.
The cost of this class is $80 for members of Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette, $85 for non-members. There are a limited number of scholarships for classes.

Melanie comes to Civic Theatre from Chicago where she studied graduate acting at DePaul University. She has a theatre degree from Creighton University and has worked in Los Angeles. She was employed for three years as lead instructor at Limelight Productions Summer Camps in Sierra Vista, Arizona. She toured with Limelight Productions as a young girl throughout the southern United States. Melanie, who has lived all over the world with her family, has a wealth of experience in musical theatre, improv and acting.
