In the Wings: Enter Love: A Musical for Our Times. Meet Jennie Fights.

Jennie Fights plays Sara, Fern and Angie in Enter Love: A Musical for Our Times, an original musical with lyrics and music by Lynn Lupold and book by Don Seybold. It will make its world premiere at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette.

Jennie heard about auditions from her sister, Deborah Fights. They knew the people involved and decided to audition.

"Also, it's summer and the show was a good way to have more experience performing and to have fun," Jennie said.

Jennie said Sara is outspoken and opinionated, Fern is put-together and stubborn and Angie is newly married, going to Afghanistan and perhaps a little afraid.

"Most of them are looking for love," Jennie said. "Sara questions love at times and Fern and Angie are in marriages and seeing how to make things work."

Jennie said the show's realistic view of love will appeal to audiences.

"Audiences will not always get a happy ending with this musical," she said. "It's more real and it's not all a classic man-and-woman-easily-fall-in-love show. It's about everyone and the struggles that come with being in love."

Enter Love: A Musical for Our Times opens Friday, August 13 and runs through Saturday, August 21 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre at the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette. Friday and Saturday evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday afternoon performances begin at 2:30 p.m.
