In the Wings: Enter Love: A Musical for Our Times. Meet Barry Knechtel.

Barry Knechtel plays Ben in Enter Love: A Musical for Our Times, an original musical with music and lyrics by Lynn Lupold and book by Don Seybold. It will make its world premiere at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette.

Barry decided to audition for the show because of the people involved.

"Eric Van Cleave, my director in high school, told me about the show," he said. "I was excited to work with him, Lynn and Don."

Barry said Ben is suffering from a break-up.

"Ben is dumped in the first scene," he said. "Throughout the show, Ben is dealing with the recovery and moving on but he is insecure and unsure of himself."

Barry enjoys working on Enter Love: A Musical for Our Times because of the quality of the cast and the ability to leave his mark on the character.

"Everyone in the cast is extremely strong," he said. "And because the show has never been done before, no one has a preconceived idea of what their characters should be. All the performers are bringing themselves into the show."

Enter Love: A Musical for Our Times opens Friday, August 13 and runs through Saturday, August 21 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre at the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette. Friday and Saturday evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday afternoon performances begin at 2:30 p.m.

For more information about the show or to order tickets, call Civic Theatre's office at 765-423-7529 or visit Civic Theatre's website or the show's website.
