In the Wings: One Size Fits All summer workshop graduation show. Meet Robin Dickelman.
For the first time in more than five years, One Size Fits All has been holding summer workshops to teach improvisation skills and performance techniques including pantomime, gibberish, characterization and scene work.
Now after several weeks of work, the students are prepared for their graduation – a full-format improv show at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. Robin Dickelman is one of those students.
Question: Who are you when you aren't doing improv?
Robin: I am a trophy wife.
Q: What was your first exposure to One Size Fits All?
R.D.: Gary McFall, a current player, is a friend of a friend. I went to see one of the shows.
Q: Why did you take this summer workshop?
R.D.: All the guys in One Size Fits All are so hot. I want to be in the group with them. (Note from Steve Martin, co-director of One Size Fits All: "Robin is correct about all the guys in the group. We are hot.")
Q: What is something surprising you learned during the workshop?
R.D.: I had no idea that players practiced gibberish so much.
Q: What is your favorite improv game?
Q: What makes you laugh?
R.D.: Anything that I hadn't thought of that is original and clever.
Q: What question are you glad I didn't ask?
R.D.: What is my weight?
The One Size Fits All summer workshop graduation show takes place 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 28. It will be held at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette, on the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette. Tickets are $4.00 per person and can be ordered in advance by calling 765-423-7529. All proceeds go to Civic Theatre. The show is fun for people of all ages.
