Announcing auditions: Tuesdays with Morrie

Audition dates have been set for Tuesdays with Morrie, the second production in Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette's 2010-2011 MainStage season. Auditions will be held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, September 19 and Monday, September 20 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre at the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette.

Director Thea Strand asks everyone who plans to audition to sign up for a 15-minute time slot by calling 765-423-7529. Scripts can be signed out from Civic Theatre's office at 313 N. 5th Street.

Maybe it was a grandparent, or a teacher, or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, helped you see the world as a more profound place, gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it.

For Mitch Albom, that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly twenty years ago. He rediscovers Morrie in the last months of the older man's life. Knowing he was dying, Morrie visited with Mitch in his study every Tuesday, just as they used to back in college. Their rekindled relationship turned into one final "class": lessons in how to live.

Tuesdays with Morrie will open Friday, November 5 and run three consecutive weekends through Sunday, November 21.
