Civic Theatre Comedy Readers to hold a Read-Out on Oct. 5

Do you have a sense of humor? Do you have an hour or so to let it come out and play? The Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette Comedy Readers are having a get-together for people who are interested in developing their comedy reading skills. It will take place Tuesday, October 5 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the lobby of the historic Monon Depot Theatre at the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette. No memorization. No costumes. No theatre experience is necessary!

This is not an audition. It’s a fun get-together for people interested in spending an evening reading funny jokes and scripts. Many of the organizations that book the Comedy Readers want entertainment during the day, so being retired can be an asset.

Participants will meet in small groups to read scripts and exchange ideas with other members of the Comedy Readers on how to introduce a piece of humor, how to develop a character, and how to handle punch lines.

There is a Comedy Reading performance scheduled at Rosewalk Commons on Thursday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. If you would be available to read at that time, please let Sara Jane Coffman, coordinator of the Comedy Readers, know at the “Read-Out” on October 5.

Call the Civic office at 423-7529 to reserve a spot. Space is limited to 20 people.

Can’t make it? Join the Comedy Readers for lunch at MCL cafeteria at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 18.
