Purdue's Tomahawk Service and Leadership Society helps out at Civic Theatre!

Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette's atrium, parking lot and scene shop look better this afternoon thanks to seven volunteers from Purdue University's Tomahawk and Service and Leadership Society.

The Tomahawk Service and Leadership Society is a coed service and leadership honorary at the University. As an honor society, Tomahawk selects outstanding independent students of freshman level or above who have shown leadership in campus activities. The organization performs more than 30 service projects per year at Purdue and in the surrounding community.

Today, members of Tomahawk pulled weeds from the atrium, piled and bagged fallen leaves in the parking lot, moved an abandoned couch from North Street to the dumpster and helped organize the scene shop. They were joined by Dave Lahr, a longtime Civic Theatre volunteer and honorary member of Tomahawk. Dave become involved with the organization through his grandson Anthony, who had served as Tomahawk's president in the past. Bob Zink, another longtime Civic Theatre volunteer, serves as the organization's adviser.

The seven Tomahawk members who volunteered at Civic Theatre were:
  • * Tyler Diercks
  • * Nicole Hinde
  • * James Ma
  • * Tillie Nordloh
  • * Sarah Rife
  • * Megan Swanson
  • * Frannie Zilinskas

Thanks to these volunteers for spending an afternoon at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette and keeping it looking beautiful.
