Rent to be Civic's return to the Amphitheatre

Civic Theatre is pleased to announce a return to summer theatre at the Tippecanoe County Amphitheatre.  After a one year hiatus Civic Theatre will make a return to the Tippecanoe County Amphitheatre with the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning musical Rent.

Mark, Roger, Mimi, Tom Collins, Angel, Maureen, Joanne and Benny are coming to Tippecanoe County in Summer 2011.

Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette will open its 2011-2012 season with a production of Rent, the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical drama by Jonathan Larson. Julia Colby will direct the production, Twana Harris will act as music director. The productions will run July 14-16, 2011 at the Tippecanoe County Amphitheater.

Based loosely on Puccini’s La bohème, it tells the story of young artists on the Lower East Side of New York struggling to keep their Bohemian lifestyle strong amid betrayals by friends, illnesses, contentious relationships and artistic integrity.

Rent achieved much critical acclaim when it opened in the mid-1990s, winning the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Tony Award for Best Musical , the Drama Desk Award for Best Musical, the Drama League Award for Best Musical and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical.
