Help Wanted!

As many of you know, our long time Civic Youth Theatre Director, Melanie R. Buchanan, is in her last season. There will be much more to say about that in the future.  We are opening a job search as of today to fill the new position of Director of Education and Outreach.  The job will entail many of the same duties Melanie now carries, but will have more emphasis on education, teaching classes, working with the new Oakland High School, and in general building on the great work that Melanie has done over the years.  The official listing is below, but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Steve.  email or by phone at 765.423.7529.

Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette, an 80-year-old community theatre, seeks a full-time Director of Education and Outreach to oversee expanding education and youth programming.  Candidate will have experience in curriculum creation, performance instruction, directing and working with young people.  In addition to established classes and camps, Civic will begin teaching twice weekly high school level classes in fall 2011.  Candidate will be responsible for development of lesson plans to include all aspects of state curriculum, including acting but also theatre history, literature and production.  Candidate will also assist in overseeing a well established youth theatre program, including a traveling acting troupe and four productions every year.  Candidate will be experienced, energetic, versatile, organized and value the power of theatre to transform young people’s lives.
