Announcing auditions: Little Shop of Horrors

Audition dates have been set for Little Shop of Horrors, the fifth and final production in Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette's 2010-2011 MainStage season.

Auditions will be held 6-9 p.m. on Sunday, March 6 and Monday, March 7 in the Civic Theatre office.

Director Laurie Russell asks that everyone auditioning prepare a 1-2 minute monologue and one verse and chorus of a song. The song can be from the show, and all actresses being considered for Audrey will be asked to sing "Suddenly Seymour."

Those interested in auditioning must call the Civic Theatre office at 765-423-7529 to set an appointment.

A down-and-out skid row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon "Audrey II" grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite.

Little Shop of Horrors will open Friday, May 13 and run three consecutive weekends through Sunday, May 29.
