In the Wings: Once Upon a Mattress. Meet Kelsey White.

Kelsey White plays Lady Larken in Once Upon a Mattress, the second production of the 2010-2011 Civic Youth Theatre season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. Melanie R. Buchanan and Laurie Russell are the directors.

Question: Why did you audition for Once Upon a Mattress?
Kelsey White: I wanted to see if I could make it into something other than a high school production.

Q: What words would you use to describe Lady Larken?
K.W.: She’s bubbly, excited and ditzy.

Q: What is Lady Larken's main goal?
O.D.: She wants to get married to Sir Harry so she doesn’t have to raise a baby by herself.

Q: What do you think audiences will most remember about this production?
O.D.: I think it’ll be a good time, there will be good laughs and it’s a fun way to enjoy a night out.

Once Upon a Mattress opens Friday, February 25 and runs through Sunday, February 27 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre at the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette. Friday and Saturday evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday afternoon matinees begin at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for youth age 18 and under.
