Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette is registering students for the 2011 Young at Arts Civic Youth Theatre Summer Camps. There are three camps for students of all ages, including:
- Improv R Us. Campers will learn basic techniques of improvisation for the theatre. They will learn the importance of improv as an acting technique, as well as performing in comedic shows. The week will culminate with an improvisational performance showcasing the actors' ability to think quickly on their feet. This camp is for students entering Grade 5 and above. It runs June 13-17 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The camp costs $130.
- Musical Theatre & Drama Camp. Campers will learn the basics of acting through drama and musical theatre. Using scenes and songs from a variety of musicals, the campers will be ready to perform. This camp is for students entering Grades 2, 3 or 4. It runs June 20-24 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The camp costs $130.
- Theatre Exploration Camp. This camp will take campers on a journey through the magical world of the theatre. Students will use music, movement and arts & crafts to create a world within the theatre. This camp is for students entering Kindergarten or Grade 1. It runs June 27-July 1 from 9 a.m.-12 noon. The camp costs $70.
