In the Wings: Out of Order. Meet Erin McConnell.
Erin McConnell plays Jane Worthington in Out of Order, the fourth production in the 2010-2011 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. The script is by Ray Cooney.
Question: Why did you want to be part of Out of Order?
Erin McConnell: I liked the idea of performing in a comedy. I hadn't done any acting since high school and I thought it would be fun. I needed a hobby and I wanted to become more involved with the community.
Q: What words would you use to describe Jane Worthington?
E.M.: She's naïve, flirtatious and slightly ditzy. The audience will see this in the decisions she's making, especially early on, and her reactions to the crazy situations that come about during the play.
Q: What is Jane's main goal?
E.M.: She's not quite sure herself. She might be trying to improve her situation politically or fulfill something emotionally. Throughout the play she fulfills that emotional need in a different way that she thought she would.
Q: What will an audience most remember about this production?
E.M.: The laughs. The ridiculousness. The Waiter.
Out of Order will open Friday, March 11 and run three consecutive weekends through Sunday, March 27 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre at the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette. Friday and Saturday evening performances will begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday afternoon performances will begin at 2:30 p.m.
