In the Wings: Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. Meet Timothy Devery.

Timothy Devery plays Joe in Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, the first production of the 2011-2012 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. The script is by Ed Graczyk.

Question: Why did you want to be part of Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean?
Timothy Devery: When I read the script, I saw it was very intense. It's quite interesting, and I have a lot of downtime. I get to be there watching everything happen. It's a nice draw.

Q: How would you describe Joe? What are his goals?
T.D.: Joe is confused, abrasive, and whiny in a good way. He is trying to achieve happiness, which could mean anything.

Q: What do you think an audience will most remember about Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean?
T.D.: The intensity. We're really intense, and it gets more intense as it keeps going until everything just explodes.

Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean will open Friday, September 9 and run three consecutive weekends through Sunday, September 25 at the historic Monon Depot Theater at the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday performances begin at 2:30 p.m.
