In the Wings: Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. Meet Mary Gascho.

Mary Gascho plays Sissy (Then) in Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, the first production of the 2011-2012 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. The script is by Ed Graczyk.

Question: Why did you want to be part of Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean?
M.G.: I had seen the movie by Robert Altman and loved it. I wanted the opportunity to play Cher's character. It really interested me. It's a cool show.

Question: How would you describe Sissy? What are her goals?
M.G.: Sissy is outgoing, boisterous and vivacious. Sissy is looking for guys. She goes out with the guys all the time. I think she's trying to find a place for herself.

Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean will open Friday, September 9 and run three consecutive weekends through Sunday, September 25 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre at the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday performances begin at 2:30 p.m.
