Announcing auditions for Red Hot and Cole

Director Kate Walker has announced auditions for Red Hot and Cole, the fourth production of the 2011-2012 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette.

Auditions will be held Sunday, January 15 and Monday, January 16 from 6-9 p.m. in the Civic Theatre office at 313 N. 5th Street in downtown Lafayette.

Those auditioning will be asked to prepare a song in the style of the show: Jazz Era standards. Songs from the show are acceptable. Please dress comfortably for movement. To sign up for an appointment, call 765-423-PLAY (7529). Everyone auditioning will be asked to attend through the end of the hour.

The director seeks several singers and actors ages 16 and older to play various roles.

He's "throwing a ball tonight" – and you're all invited, to a "swellegant" theatrical party spanning the life of Broadway's greatest wit, the irrepressible Cole Porter.

A scintillating mixture of biography and song, Red Hot and Cole celebrates the great American songwriter who brought style, elegance and sophistication to the stages and soundstages of Broadway and Hollywood, delighting the world with his devilishly clever rhymes, fresh and unexpected melodies and sassy, sexy sensibility.

Red Hot and Cole will open Friday, March 2 and run through Sunday, March 18 in the historic Monon Depot Theatre. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday performances begin at 2:30 p.m.

For more information about the show or to order tickets, call Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette at 765-423-PLAY (7529) or visit its website.
