In the Wings: Young Directors Project - I've Hit an Iceberg. Meet Julia Spratt.

Julia Spratt plays Character A in I've Hit an Iceberg, one of the shows in Young Directors Project, the fourth and final production of the 2011-2012 Civic Youth Theatre season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. The script is by Danna Call.

Question: Why did you audition for Young Directors Project?
Julia Spratt: Pride and Prejudice was my first show at Civic Theatre, and I wanted to be more involved before the next season.

Q: What is your character like?
J.S.: She has been summoned by her best friend for help because a head of iceberg lettuce has spoken to her friend. She works as a psychiatrist, so she loves analyzing and looking into people's minds. Her main goal is to help her friend and figure out what happened to make the lettuce talk to her.

Q: Do you have an interest in directing?
J.S.: I do, actually. I've directed the Harrison High School musicals the past two years: Bye Bye Birdie and How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying. It's been a lot of fun, and I'm interested also in doing it at Civic Theatre.

Q: What do you think an audience will most enjoy about this show?
J.S.: Definitely the banter between the characters and the relationship they have.

Young Directors Project opens Friday, April 20 and runs through Sunday, April 22 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre at the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette.

Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday shows begin at 2:30 p.m. For more information about the show or to order tickets, call 765-423-PLAY (7529) or visit Civic Theatre's website.
