Zombie Epic! Callout: Monday, June 25
Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette and Purdue University Galleries announce a unique venture to be created and performed for the community as part of the "Living Graphic Novel" projects.
Participants of all ages are invited to a call out meeting at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 25 to introduce the "Zombie Epic!" There are opportunities in script writing, performing, set artwork, costumes and makeup, lighting and technical production, and promoting the event. The creative process will continue throughout the week, culminating in a live, Pay-What-You-Can performance at 9:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre at the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette.
The Zombie Epic! will combine a live, tableau vivant style-performance of posed images with comic book design and framing devices. Audience members will be encouraged to photograph the staged imagery, taking away their own "living graphic novel" of the event.
Living Graphic Novel is a collaborative program that offers the opportunity for participants to develop, illustrate and appear in short stories through the development of live scenes using actors, painted sets and framing devices in the style of graphic novels and comic books. The project emphasizes literacy, writing skills, creativity and artistic design through collaborators from theatre arts, visual arts, and language arts endeavors.
Living Graphic Novel projects are presented with grant support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
