Anna Roberts plays Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, the first of two summer productions from Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette in 2012. The music and lyrics are by Frank Loesser; the book is by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. Next year Anna will be a junior at West Lafayette High School.
Question: Why did you want to be part of Guys and Dolls?
Anna Roberts: I love theatre. I'm more of a singer, and I sing mostly classical. But I did two shows at my school, and I knew a lot of people in the cast. I thought it would be really fun.
Q: What is it like having to put up a show in a few weeks?
A.R.: I think it's a lot more stressful, but it also makes it more exciting. People put more energy into everything. It makes for more productive rehearsals.
Q: In real life, are you more like a Save-a-Soul person, or are you a gangster?
A.R.: Probably closer to a Save-a-Soul person. I don't break many rules.
Guys and Dolls will run July 20 and 21 at the Tippecanoe County AmphitheaterPark, 4449 State Road 43 North, West Lafayette. The shows begin at 7:30 p.m.
