Hannah Lazarz plays Mimi, a Hot Box dancer in Guys and Dolls, the first of two summer productions from Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette in 2012. The music and lyrics are by Frank Loesser; the book is by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. Next year Hannah will be a senior at West Lafayette High School.
Question: Why did you want to be part of Guys and Dolls?
Hannah Lazarz: I thought it would be fun. My sister is the choreographer, and a lot of my friends are doing it. This is one of my favorite musicals.
Q: What is it like having a rehearsal schedule that is only a few weeks?
H.L.: I like it because it makes everyone work a lot harder; there's no wasted time. It's more difficult, but in the end it will work out because everyone's motivated to work.
Q: In real life, are you more like a Save-a-Soul person, or are you a gangster?
H.L.: I'm more of a Save-a-Soul person.
Guys and Dolls will run July 20 and 21 at the Tippecanoe County Amphitheater Park, 4449 State Road 43 North, West Lafayette. The shows begin at 7:30 p.m.
