Announcing auditions: Nuncrackers – The Nunsense Christmas Musical

Director Camilla A. Cripps has announced audition information for Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical, the holiday show in the 2012-2013 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. The show is by Dan Goggin.

Open auditions will be Sunday, Sept. 16 from 4-8 p.m. Auditions by appointment will be Monday, Sept. 17 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Both sets of auditions will be at the historic Monon Depot Theatre at the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette.

Camilla is looking for 4 women, ages 26-60; 1 man, age 30-60; and 2 boys and 2 girls, ages 9-16.

Those who are auditioning should prepare an upbeat song, not from the show. They also will be asked to read from the script and do movement during auditions.

Scripts are available for checkout at the Civic Theatre office, 313 N. 5th Street, Lafayette.

Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical is the first “TV Special” taped by the sisters in their convent basement studio for Cable Access. It stars the nuns you love plus Father Virgil and some of Mt. Saint Helen’s most talented students. It features all new songs including: "Twelve Days Prior to Christmas," "Santa Ain’t Comin’ to Our House," "We Three Kings of Orient are Us," and "It’s Better to Give Than to Receive." This show is filled with “Nunsense” humor, some of your favorite carols, a “Secret Santa,” and an uproarious take on Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker ballet. Nuncrackers will make you laugh and maybe tug at your heartstrings. It’s the perfect way to ensure your holiday season is merry and bright.

Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical will open Friday, November 30 and run through Saturday, December 15 in the historic Monon Depot Theatre in downtown Lafayette. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m., the Sunday shows begin at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for youth age 18 and under. Tickets can be purchased by calling 765-423-PLAY (7529) or visiting
