Announcing 2013 Summer Camps for Civic Youth Theatre: 1-week camps



Lori Portner, Civic Theatre's Director of Outreach and Education, has announced the schedule of 2013 Summer Camps.

Registration for all camps begins Friday, Feb. 1. Registration can be done by calling Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette at 765-423-PLAY (7529), visiting Civic Theatre's office at 313 N. 5th Street in downtown Lafayette, or visiting the theatre's website.

There will be three 1-week summer camps in 2013: Acting with Improv - Session One, Acting with Improv - Session 2, and I "Heart" Theatre.

Acting with Improv - Session One is for youth ages 8-10. Campers will learn techniques and games that will help them learn how "thinking on your feet" enhances acting skills. The week will culminate with a performance Friday, June 14, showcasing skills learned.

Acting with Improv - Session Two is for youth ages 11-13. Campers will learn techniques and games that will help them learn how "thinking on your feet" enhances acting skills. The week will culminate with a performance Friday, June 21, showcasing skills learned.

I "Heart" Theatre is for youth ages 5-7. Campers will explore the exciting world of theatre through stories, games and crafts. A short showcase for family and friends will be presented Friday, June 28.

Further Details:

* Acting with Improv - Session One: June 10-14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The cost is $150.
* Acting with Improv - Session Two: June 17-21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The cost is $150.
* I "Heart" Theatre - June 24-28 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon each day. The cost is $75.

* Space is limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

* Registration is not complete until full payment is received. Contact Civic Theatre if paying arrangements are needed.

* There are a limited number of partial scholarships available. Call 765-423-PLAY (7529) for more information.

* Campers must bring a sack lunch and beverage each day. Refrigeration is available. If the weather permits, campers will eat outdoors.

* All camps except the Summer Theatre Institute will be held in an air-conditioned environment.

* Refunds are given only for medical reasons.

* A medical form must be completed prior to the first day of camp.

* Civic Theatre reserves the right to cancel any class or camp due to low enrollment.

* Each camper will receive a free t-shirt.

The mission of Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette is to enhance the artistic and cultural environment of Greater Lafayette through theatrical productions and educational opportunities.
