In the Wings: The Fox on the Fairway. Meet Aurelia Vanderkolk.

Aurelia Vanderkolk plays Muriel in The Fox on the Fairway, the fourth show of the 2012-2013 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. The script is by Ken Ludwig.

Question: Who is Muriel? What is she like?
Aurelia Vanderkolk: Muriel is Bingham's wife. They don't have the best marriage. Muriel is always in charge and a little domineering. She tells it like it is.

Q: What is fun about playing a character like Muriel?
A.V.: It's fun to express emotions that I don't express every day. She says exactly what's on her mind, and I'm finding that it is fun to boss people around.

Q: What will an audience enjoy about The Fox on the Fairway?
A.V.: It is a fun show, really fast-paced and entertaining. That's important about theatre: you go to be entertained, and that's definitely what this play does.

Q: Of all the actors in the cast, including you, who is most likely to cheat on their golf card?
A.V.: Maybe Tim Devery. He seems pretty honest, though. I'll go with Neil Radtke. He's a little slippery, maybe. I could see him fudging it.

The Fox on the Fairway opens Friday, March 8 and runs through Saturday, March 23 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre on the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette. The Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m., the Sunday shows begin at 2:30 p.m.

Rush Tickets may be available before each performance for $8.00 for students with a valid college or high school ID. Follow @lafayettecivic on Twitter before each performance to learn about ticket availability for that night's performance.
