In the Wings: Company. Meet Andrew Meyer.

Andrew Meyer plays Peter in Company, the fifth and final production of the 2012-2013 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. The music and lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim. The book is by George Furth.

Question: Why did you audition for the show?
Andrew Meyer: It's a musical, and I have the time for the first time, ever.

Q: Who is Peter? What does Bobby get from his friendship with him and Susan, played by Beth Butram?
A.M.: Peter is kind of Bobby's testosterone-driven buddy, the one he does all the woman bantering with. Peter is a teacher at a University, where he gawks at the younger girls all day.

Q: What will an audience enjoy about Company?
A.M.: They'll enjoy the surprising things that people say.

Q: What is your favorite Stephen Sondheim song?
A.M.: Probably something from Into the Woods. I'm always partial to "Giants in the Sky" and the Witch's Rap.

Company opens Friday, May 3 and runs through Saturday, May 18 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre at the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette. The Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday shows are at 2:30 p.m.
