In the Wings: Company. Meet Kyle Borcz.

Kyle Borcz plays Paul in Company, the fifth and final production of the 2012-2013 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. The music and lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim. The book is by George Furth.

Question: Why did you audition for the show?
Kyle Borcz: It's one of my favorites. I've never done it before, and I've wanted to. It's in a league of its own. The score is brilliant, and it stands out even among all of Stephen Sondheim's shows. I auditioned with my wife, Candie Borcz. I told her that we would be able to look back on this and say, "We did Company!" It's a challenge.

Q: Who is Paul? What does Bobby get out of his friendship with him and Amy, played by Amy Long?
K.B.: Paul is going to marry Amy at the end of Act I. Paul is one of Bobby's oldest friends, he's the best man at Paul's and Amy's wedding. Bobby is an anchor for them because Amy can be a little flighty.

Q: What will an audience enjoy about Company?
K.B.: It's cast very, very well. Shannon Sabel cast people who are perfect for all the roles. With auditions and callbacks, meeting everyone and reading with them, I could almost see who would be perfect for each role.

Q: What is your favorite Stephen Sondheim song?
K.B.: If I had to pick one, "Pretty Women" from Sweeney Todd is gorgeous. I love how it's used in that musical because it's a horrifying moment that the song is building to. It's just a really pretty, melancholy song.
