The 2013-2014 Civic Youth Theatre season: Charlotte's Web

The second production of the 2013-2014 Civic Youth Theatre season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette will be Charlotte's Web, directed by Denise Laussade. The play was written by Joseph Robinette, based on the book by E.B. White.

Performances will be November 15, 16 and 17 in the historic Monon Depot Theatre at 320 N. 5th Street - the corner of 5th Street and North Street - in downtown Lafayette. Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday performance will begin at 2:30 p.m.

The Children's Literature Association named Charlotte's Web "the best American children's book of the past two hundred years." Adapted for the stage by Joseph Robinette, all the enchanting characters are here:  Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher, Fern, Templeton, the Zuckerman family, the Arables, and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be "a true friend and a good writer." Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign with the "miracle" of her web in which she writes, "Some pig."
