In the Wings: A Midsummer Night's Dream. Meet Caroline Loftus.

Caroline Loftus plays Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream, the first of two summer productions from Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. The play is by William Shakespeare.

Question: Who is Bottom?
Caroline Loftus: Bottom is part of a group called the mechanicals, a troupe of working-class actors. Bottom is essentially a diva. He wants to play the main part, and he's stupid and off in his own little world. He gets his head turned into a donkey's head, and the Queen of the Fairies, Titania, falls in love with him. He has a pretty interesting time during the play.

Q: Why do you like Shakespeare?
C.L.: I love the language and the puns and plays on words. A lot of people don't think of Shakespeare as funny, but once you get to know it it's hilarious.

Q: What would be a dream come true for you?
C.L.: I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, so my dream could true would be to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

A Midsummer Night's Dream will run June 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tippecanoe County Amphitheater Park, 4449 State Road 43 North, West Lafayette.

General admission tickets cost $10 per person and can be purchased by visiting http://lafayettecivic.tix.com or calling 765-423-7529.

The mission of Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette is to enhance the artistic and cultural environment of Greater Lafayette through theatrical productions and educational opportunities.
