Director Neil Radtke has announced the cast of Antigone, the first show of the 2013-2014 Civic Youth Theatre season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. David Felshuh adapted the script from the original by Sophocles.
Theban Princess Antigone buries her brother Polyneices. In so doing, she chooses to comply with divine will that all Thebans receive below ground burials. But at the same time, she contradicts the non-burial edict that her uncle, King Creon, issues regarding the exposure of the bodies of the disloyal Theban dead. Antigone gets caught and is sentenced to death. So begins this Greek tragedy that examines relationships, gender roles, conscience vs. law, and pride - the great destroyer.
The cast includes:
* Antigone - Sarah Weaver
