Isobel Stuart Miller plays Janet McKenzie in Witness for the Prosecution, the second MainStage production in the 2013-2014 season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. Agatha Christie wrote the script.
Question: Why did you audition for Witness for the Prosecution?
Isobel Stuart Miller: One of my friends alerted me to the fact that there was a play coming up where they needed a mature Scottish housekeeper. Well, I have the "mature" and I have the "Scottish." The "housekeeper" part, we'll have to see if my husband agrees with that.
Q: Who is Janet McKenzie?
I.S.M.: Janet McKenzie was the housekeeper to the lady who was murdered. This is why we're having the trial, to find out who did her in. Janet is a witness for the prosecution.
Q: What is your favorite mystery?
I.S.M.: The 39 Steps. It started as a story and it became a Hitchcock movie. The funniest version is the new play that has only four actors, and they play all the characters. We saw it in London and it is absolutely hilarious.
