Ralph Rohrer plays Justice Wainwright in Witness for the Prosecution, the second MainStage production in the 2013-2014 season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. Agatha Christie wrote the script.
Question: Why did you audition for Witness for the Prosecution?
Ralph Rohrer: It's been a while since I've done anything at Civic, and I wanted to get back on the boards here. Also, it's a good show. I was in it several years ago in a small role, so this is a chance to move into a bigger role.
Q: Who is Justice Wainwright? What is he like?
R.R.: He is in charge of the courtroom and he has to deal with very strong egos there, which he does with grace and class and imperiousness.
Q: What is your favorite mystery?
R.R.: The Murders in the Rue Morgue by Edgar Allan Poe. It sets up the archetype of the classic detective that is carried on in Agatha Christie novels and others.
