Isaiah Robyne plays Simon in 13, the third show in the 2013-2014 Civic Youth Theatre season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. Jason Robert Brown wrote the music and lyrics, and Dan Elish and Robert Horn wrote the book.
Question: Why did you audition for 13?
Isaiah Robyne: I wanted to get more involved with the community, make more friends and advance my music skills.
Q: What is it like to play Simon?
I.R.: He's not a major part. It's fun to play Simon because it's fun to be someone else. I'm trying to give him his own character. I appreciate fine, delicate things in life more than he would.
Q: What is the best age, whether you've already reached it or not?
I.R.: 17. It's sort of a medium range when you're getting more in tuned with life. You decide where you're going to go.
