Previewing the 2014-2015 MainStage season: "The Importance of Being Earnest," Aug. 29-Sept. 13, 2014

We're previewing the 2014-2015 season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette this week. We're looking now at the MainStage season.

The first production in the 2014-2015 MainStage season will be The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. It is a full-length comedy with a cast of five men and four women.

This masterpiece is probably the most famous of all comedies. It revolves wittily around the most ingenious case of "manufactured" mistaken identity ever put into a play.

The show will run Aug. 29 through Sept. 13 in the historic Monon Depot Theatre at 320 N. 5th Street in downtown Lafayette – the corner of 5th Street and North Street. The Friday and Saturday shows will be at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday shows will be at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for youth. For more information, call 765-423-7529.

The mission of Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette is to enhance the artistic and cultural environment of Greater Lafayette through theatrical productions and educational opportunities.
