Connor Beaver plays older Patrick in Mame, the fifth and final show in the 2013-2014 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. Jerry Herman wrote the music and lyrics. Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee wrote the book based on the novel "Auntie Mame" by Patrick Dennis.
Question: Why did you audition for the musical?
Connor Beaver: This probably would be my last Civic show for a while. I haven't been in a lot of musicals, so I thought why not?
Q: Who is Patrick and what is he like?
C.B.: He was raised in a very fun-loving home, there were crazy people and it was a crazy place. He also grew up in proper prep school society, and he's torn between the two.
Q: What makes your life a banquet?
C.B.: I like to have a little bit of everything on my plate. I like sports, I like to act, I like to paint and draw. I like a little taste of everything.
