Michael Greenan plays Ito in Mame, the fifth and final show in the 2013-2014 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. Jerry Herman wrote the music and lyrics. Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee wrote the book based on the novel "Auntie Mame" by Patrick Dennis.
Question: Why did you audition for the musical?
Michael Greenan: The last show I did was the staged reading of Photograph 51. I miss acting and need to get those chops working again. There's nothing like bringing a character to life on stage.
Q: Who is Ito and what is he like?
M.G.: He is Mame's servant. He's very loyal to her.
Q: How is your life like a banquet?
M.G.: Friends and family, and creating art.
Mame runs Friday, May 9 through Sunday, May 11 at Sunnyside Intermediate School, 530 N. 26th Street in Lafayette. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday show begins at 2:30 p.m.
