Ralph Rohrer plays Lindsay Woolsey in Mame, the fifth and final show in the 2013-2014 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. Jerry Herman wrote the music and lyrics. Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee wrote the book based on the novel "Auntie Mame" by Patrick Dennis.
Question: Why did you audition for the musical?
Ralph Rohrer: I worked with the director Susan Kisinger in The Diary of Anne Frank, and it was enjoyable.
Q: Who is Lindsay and what is he like?
R.R.: He is Mame's publisher friend. He helps her at various stages in her life.
Q: What makes your life a banquet?
R.R.: I act in plays at Civic Theatre and Chancel Players. I see the kids every now and again, too.
Mame runs Friday, May 9 through Sunday, May 11 at Sunnyside Intermediate School, 530 N. 26th Street in Lafayette. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday show begins at 2:30 p.m.
