Alex Mullenix plays Actor B in The Show Must NOT Go On!, one of seven plays that are part of the second annual 10-Minute Play Festival at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette. It was written by Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos.
Question: Who is Actor B?
Alex Mullenix: At the beginning of the play, he's frantic much like Actor A because their play has fallen apart. They have lost a key character and they don't know what to do. They're trying to piece together a plan, or just leave.
Q: What is a challenge or something exciting about acting in a 10-minute play?
A.M.: The challenge is that you have to establish a character quickly and well. You don't have long spans of character development, so you have to make an impression there. You've also got to do better than all those other plays that are playing the same day.
Q: Fill in the blank: "In the time it takes me to _____, I could watch a 10-minute play."
A.M.: "save 15 percent on my auto insurance"
The second annual 10-Minute Play Festival will be Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the historic Monon Depot Theatre, 320 N. 5th Street – the corner of 5th Street and North Street in downtown Lafayette. All 7 plays will be performed both nights.
