In the Wings: The Importance of Being Earnest. Meet Citt Mabbitt.

Citt Mabbitt plays Cecily Cardew in Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest," the first show in the 2014-2015 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette.

"The Importance of Being Earnest" will run Friday, Aug. 29 through Saturday, Sept. 13 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre, 320 N. 5th Street in downtown Lafayette – the corner of 5th Street and North Street.

Question: Who is Cecily?
Citt Mabbitt: She is Jack's ward. She wants to meets Ernest, who is Jack's imaginary brother. She likes that Ernest is a mystery man.

Question: What is funny about the play?
C.M.: The interaction between Jack and Algernon. They have such terrific chemistry. There also are situations in Act I that become jokes in Act III.

Q: This play also is a romance. What do you find romantic?
C.M.: Thinking about somebody else before yourself and knowing what makes them happy.
