In the Wings: The Importance of Being Earnest. Meet E. Linda Jeffries.

E. Linda Jeffries plays Miss Prism in Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest," the first show in the 2014-2015 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette.

"The Importance of Being Earnest" will run Friday, Aug. 29 through Saturday, Sept. 13 at the historic Monon Depot Theatre, 320 N. 5th Street in downtown Lafayette – the corner of 5th Street and North Street.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors, $10 for youth age 18 and under. You can purchase tickets by visiting http://lafayettecivic.tix.com or calling 765-423-7529.

Question: Who is Miss Prism?
E. Linda Jeffries: She is Cecily's governess and a very important person in Jack's story.

Question: What is funny about the play?
E.L.J.: I love the play on words. It's marvelously creative, it's fun and it's easier to memorize than I thought it would be.

Question: This play is also a romance. What do you find romantic?
E.L.J.: I've made it 49-and-a-half years in a marriage that no one thought would make it. People tried to talk us out of getting married; they did not think we would suit.
