The Staged Reading Series: Circle Mirror Transformation on Sept. 2

The first staged reading of the 2014-2015 Staged Reading Series is Annie Baker's "Circle Mirror Transformation." It will be Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Monon Depot Theatre at 320 N. 5th Street in downtown Lafayette – the corner of 5th Street and North Street.

It is a Pay What You Can event. It will be immediately followed by a question-and-answer session between the audience, the cast and the director.

When four lost New Englanders who enroll in Marty's six-week-long community-center drama class begin to experiment with harmless games, hearts are quietly torn apart, and tiny wars of epic proportions are waged and won. The play is a beautifully crafted diorama, a petri dish in which we see, with hilarious detail and clarity, the antic sadness of a motley quintet.

Kate Martin directs the cast, which includes Cresta Cates, Julia Colby, Steve Martin, Amelia Newlin and Neil Radtke.
