Erin Locke plays Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin Jr., the second show in the 2014-2015 Civic Youth Theatre season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette.
Tickets for all three performances of Disney's Aladdin Jr. are sold out. A Pay What You Can preview will be Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Question: Why did you try out for Disney's Aladdin Jr.? Had you seen the movie before?
Erin Locke: I heard about auditions back in May. Jasmine is my favorite character because has a personality that is different from most Disney princesses. She's heroic and a good role model.
Question: What makes Jasmine heroic?
E.L.: Jasmine sticks up for people, she's good to everyone. She's genuine.
Question: What will an audience love about this show?
E.L.: I think everyone will love the music. It's Aladdin, so everyone knows the songs and they can sing along with the show.
Question: If you could trade roles with anyone, who would it be and why?
E.L.: I would trade with Rachel Cooper, who plays Iago. He's a pretty cool character, and it's who I would like to be if I hadn't been cast as Jasmine. Iago gets to flutter around.
Question: Imagine you come across a pile of junk and on top is an old, beaten-up lamp. What do you do?
E.L.: I would probably look at it, be very concerned as to what it's doing there, and then pick it up and rub it. You never know what you're going to find.
